Authorized insurers are required in s. 601.715, Wis. Stat., to designate a registered agent at a Wisconsin address for service of process concerning a Wisconsin Court case or a proceeding before a Wisconsin state agency. An insurer can change their registered agent in accordance with s. 601.715 (2), Wis. Stat., by filing a new designation of a registered agent form. The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) for the state of Wisconsin has on file all designated registered agents for insurance companies licensed in Wisconsin. OCI does not maintain the phone numbers for any registered agent.
Use the search form below to locate the registered agents on file with OCI. If you do not find the insurer you desire, further information can be obtained by calling (608) 266-0090.
If you do not find the insurer listed, check the common problems page. Some of these problems include the insurer changing its name, merging with another insurer, or using a group name rather than the name of an actual insurer.
If service on the registered agent for an insurer cannot be made after reasonable diligence, substituted service on the Commissioner of Insurance can be accomplished following the procedures in s. 601.72, Wis. Stat., if it involves a Wisconsin Court case or a proceeding before a Wisconsin state agency.
